RED SHIRT FARM PLANT SALE

Every spring, we start thousands of vegetable and herb seedlings for our own fields. For our annual plant sale, we grow extra so you can plant your garden with the same varieties we grow on the farm.

These aren't trucked-in plants from a wholesale greenhouse. They're grown right here at Red Shirt Farm, in healthy soil, selected for flavor, productivity, and success in our Berkshire climate.

Strong roots. Good varieties. Real food.

Whether you're planting a few containers or a full backyard garden, these plants are chosen to help you succeed. You can reserve plants ahead of time through our preorder, or simply come to the plant sale in May.

Either way, we're glad you're gardening.

Why Our Plants Grow Better

We grow these plants the same way we grow food on our farm: with healthy soil, good seed, and the time plants need to develop strong roots.

Seedlings are started in premium organic potting soil from Vermont Compost, a mix known for producing vigorous, resilient plants.

Our seeds come primarily from Johnny's Selected Seeds and High Mowing Organic Seeds, companies known for reliable varieties and excellent genetics.

We also give plants more space and time to grow than most commercial greenhouses. They develop larger root systems and are carefully hardened off so they're ready for real garden conditions.

The result is a plant that establishes quickly, grows vigorously, and produces well in home gardens.

Preordering is the best way to guarantee you get the varieties you want, especially popular tomatoes and peppers.

Prefer to choose plants in person? That works too. We always grow plenty for walk-in shoppers.
